FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about requesting quotations, lead times and port delivery.

What does a ship chandler do?

A ship chandler supplies vessels with the goods they need during a port call: food provisions, deck, engine and cabin stores, safety items and technical supplies. The chandler sources and prepares the order, then delivers it alongside the vessel in coordination with the ship and its local agent.

What information should I include in a supply request?

Include the vessel name, port of call, ETA, local agent details and an itemised list with quantities, units and any specifications such as brand, size or part number. Complete information allows an accurate quotation and avoids delays at delivery.

How do I request a quotation?

Send your requisition list together with the vessel name, port, ETA and agent details via WhatsApp, email or the quotation form on our Contact page. We will confirm availability and reply with an itemised quotation.

Which ports do you serve?

Please contact us with your port of call and we will confirm whether we can supply there and what the delivery arrangements are.

How much lead time do you need?

Lead time depends on the port, the items requested and their availability. We confirm the expected preparation and delivery time in the quotation, and we recommend sending requisitions as early as the vessel schedule allows.

Can you source items that are not on your standard list?

Yes. Share the specification, maker or part reference and we will check availability and lead time with our suppliers before quoting.

How is delivery arranged at the port?

We coordinate with the vessel and the local agent on delivery timing and port access, and hand over the goods with a delivery note for signature on board.

What payment terms do you offer?

Payment terms are confirmed in the quotation and may depend on the order and customer relationship. Please discuss your requirements with us when requesting a quotation.
